Modern document libraries combine the power of SharePoint with OneDrive usability. They provide a consistent user experience across OneDrive, OneDrive for Business (Office 365), and document library and hence provides a standard way of creating folders and uploading files. The interface is designed to enable the Citizen Developer to get more work done faster and easier to collaborate with others. Command Bar In the new interface, you will see that the tried and true ribbon bar has now been replaced with the new Contextual Trim command bar that places intelligent commands relevant to the task at hand. Important documents can be easily highlighted by pinning them to the top of the documents folder. Copy and move documents from the command bar. Any custom ribbon customizations made will appear on the new command bar Personalization The new document libraries let you group filesdirectly on the main page without being taken to a separate admin screen. You can also click and drag to resize columns as well as sort and filter on any column header. To make the view available to everybody click Save View The views are Responsive by desing allowing mobile SharePoint users to also be productive Details pane Document metadata is now available to edit in the details pane. No more need for clicking into multiple screens to apply an update. You also bulk update multiple items. Simply select multiple items and choose to bulk update from the details pane Recent activity information Displays who the item is shared with Microsoft will continue to roll out updates and enhancements with an eye towards usability and manageability.
